This piece was created for an awareness event held at 12Stone Church on behalf of Street GRACE, a coalition of non-denominational churches in the Atlanta metro addressing the issue of the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children. The numbers presented in this PSA are mind boggling…and real!
This project was particularly special on a couple of levels. First, the girls in this video are all from relatively privileged families in the suburban Atlanta metro. Making this project opened their eyes to the atrocities happening in their own backyard. It gave them a sense of purpose knowing they were able to help in the fight.
Secondly, the final video was so moving and effective that the national Christian clothing company C28/NOTW sent it to their entire mail list and the website Change.org featured the video in their human trafficking section.

The still photography in the video is by Dare Dreamer photographer, my wife and partner, Tasra. The name of the photo series is “Voices of the Victims”. She had each of the girls take a piece of cardboard and write a message they thought reflects the feelings of the girls caught in the sex trade. Click any image below to launch the gallery carousel.

I would be remiss not to make a special note about the finicky Atlanta weather that rained on and off throughout the 2-hour +/- shoot. This was the only day we had the girls, so it’s one of those things you just had to live with. In retrospect, I probably should have wet all their girls’ hair so at least they would all looked soaked. Ha!
